May Biking / Camping Trip

Scouts and adults at the start of the Cape Cod Rail Trail.

The May 23-25 trip will be biking the Cape Cod Rail Trail (CCRT) with camping at BSA Camp Greenough in Yarmouthport.

This is a great trip for parents and siblings who might do it as a day trip, or stay for camping.

We bike in two groups: 25 miles (about 2-1/2 hours of biking) and 50 miles (about 4 hours of biking).  Bike rentals are available at an extra cost.  Helmets are required.

Cost is $40.

Here is the permission slip.

Boys should bring their bike to a meeting on May 13 or May 20 so we can check bike mechanics and fit.

First 10-Mile Hike

A group of scouts started on the hiking merit badge which requires five 10-mile hikes, and one twenty-mile hike.  Here is a copy of our route,Screenshot and a photo from the dam on Lake Whitehall:

The boys are working on their hiking merit badge.

We hiked about 11.5 miles in about 4 hours, with an average speed of about 2.8 MPH.
